Gutter/Hogg
A short post today, to share the fact that Gutter Magazine have kindly published my story “Hardly to be an Accountable Creature” online. The piece was commissioned jointly by Gutter and the Edinburgh International Book Festival as part of the festivities around James Hogg’s masterpiece The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner, which turned two hundred last year.
I was slightly worried it might seem like a controversial bit of fiction - shall we say it is heavily fictionalised, whatever that may mean - and of course, was written with the spirit of Hogg, never one to shy away from a bit of sharpness, hopefully peering over my shoulder. Read it via the link above if you'd like.
